Introduction - pilot

Hi, I’m Ryan Mitchell—a professional photographer based in Lowestoft, Suffolk. I specialise in portraits, including families, couples, and modelling. I also have a passion for using the natural environment to capture these shots, and I’m driven by a love for moments that feel honest, cinematic, and full of personality.

After years of refining my craft, learning, and adapting, I’ve officially launched my own photography business.

I’m using this blog to share more of the stories behind the photos. You’ll find behind-the-scenes peeks at shoots, tips for clients preparing for sessions, creative inspiration, and maybe even a few gear breakdowns for fellow photography nerds.

I’m someone who rarely gives myself credit. I’ve often asked, “Why me? Why would anyone choose me to take their photos?”—classic imposter syndrome, to say the least. But recently, I’ve found the courage to say “sod it” and give it a go.

I’ve never had any official qualifications; I’ve simply learned on the go—making mistakes and growing from them. Promoting myself doesn’t come naturally (and it’s difficult anyway), but I know I can provide you with the memories you deserve.

Background: I currently work full-time in a completely different field, and I’m building this business around that. I also have a loving family with two young children and a wonderful partner, who will always come first when it comes to my time. Being organised isn’t exactly my strong suit!

This ongoing blog is a space for me—and hopefully others—to share behind-the-scenes insights, tips and tricks, and lessons learned along the way.

With that, I’m looking forward to the journey: learning every day, taking on new challenges, and working alongside some amazing people.
